Resilient Landscapes, Thriving Communities.
The world is changing. What can we learn from Australia’s iconic eucalypts to guide our future? And how can we safeguard their place in it? Join us in 2027 as we explore the answers coming from laboratories, communities, boardrooms and conservation organisations around the country!
We’re taking a look at:
🌿 resilient species, communities and landscapes, from the city to the bush
🌿 adapting forest restoration for future weather patterns and soil changes
🌿 Climate-adjusted provenancing – selecting species variants most resilient to our changing climate through seed blends that respond to future conditions instead of current ones
🌿 Caring for Country through Forest Gardening, Cultural Fire and respecting First Nations approaches
🌿 Biomimicry and using lessons from nature to solve future challenges
🌿 Cutting-edge scientific discoveries in economic botany, horticulture, sustainable forestry and agroforestry
🌿 Grassroots conservation programs focusing on revegetation in our communities
🌿 and much, much more!
Held annually on 23 March, National Eucalypt Day aims to raise awareness of eucalypts and celebrate the important place they hold in Australians’ hearts and lives.
The National Eucalypt Day program aims to meet the promotion, education and conservation objectives of Eucalypt Australia.
Events can be anytime from early March through to mid-April, although the weekends each side of March 23rd remain the most favourable times to celebrate.
A limited number of microgrants of up to $500 to assist in the funding or accessibility of events are available; however, event submissions must be made by the 10th of February 2027 to be eligible.
Submit events for the calendar before the 3rd of March 2027.
Before you submit your idea, you can download a PDF (see button below) on what we think makes a good National Eucalypt Day event; however, we are open to new ideas, modalities, and input, and we’d love to hear what you have to say.
Eucalypt Australia is also open to featuring events running at different times of the year.
Key dates:
2 November 2026: Applications for Microgrants open
10 February 2027: Applications for Microgrants close
17 February 2027: Microgrants outcomes advised
3 March 2027: Event applications close for inclusion in National Eucalypt Day however, the form may be used throughout the year to advise of other events
