Mission

Eucalypt Australia is the operating name of the Bjarne K Dahl Trust, established in 2007 following a bequest from Bjarne Klaus Dahl.

Our mission is to inspire, connect and empower Australians to safeguard and celebrate eucalypts as vital to our landscapes, cultures and future

We support activities that:

• Promote the ecological, cultural and economic value of eucalypts.
• Cultivate & manage eucalypts using sustainable, climate ready practices.
• Conserve species, habitats and genetic diversity.
• Educate communities to understand, plant and care for eucalypts.
• Support research that strengthens knowledge and guides action.

Our Priorities:

• Conservation – Protect threatened species, restore key habitats, and build climate resilience.
• Education – Grow public awareness and share cultural and ecological knowledge.
• Research – Strengthen scientific understanding and practical outcomes.
• Sustainable Cultivation – Encourage climate ready planting and responsible propagation.
• Partnerships – Collaborate with communities, organisations, researchers and industry to amplify impact.

Threats to eucalypts:

• Limited eucalypt diversity in Australian conservation reserves
• Clearing of isolated eucalypts
• Climate change impacts limiting the natural regeneration of eucalypts
• The public undervaluation of eucalypts and the Australian bush
