Set against our 27-hectare sanctuary\, the day will inspire visitors to connect with nature and understand the importance of eucalypt conservation. \nActivities include:\n– Event stall featuring koala food displays and hands-on craft activities.\n– Eucalypt-inspired arts and crafts\, including creating a ‘Eucalypt Man’\, flower crowns\, gumnut headbands\, wands\, koala masks\, and nature collages.\n– Koala and gum leaf-themed face painting.\n– Photo opportunity area with arches adorned with eucalypts and local flowers; visitors are encouraged to share on social media with #LoveAGum.\n– Visit from Nutty the Koala\, dressed in a eucalypt-inspired costume.\n– Storytelling with Sarah Eccleston\, author of Have You Seen a Tree for Me?\, exploring the challenges koalas face in the wild and the importance of habitat preservation.\n– Stick insect display\, showcasing three species and their role in the ecosystem \nSanctuary team members\, experts in native plants and koala care\, will showcase the sanctuary’s gumtree species and explain how eucalypts sustain biodiversity\, provide habitat\, and support climate resilience. \nThe event is free to visitors\, offering hands-on experiences that foster awareness\, stewardship\, and a connection to Australia’s iconic eucalypts.

DESCRIPTION:Learn uncomplicated drawing techniques to create original drawings of beautiful Eucalyptus at Kings Park for National Eucalypt Day! \nDraw with freedom and creativity\, without fear\, a fun workshop with Geri Barr. \nWith a passion for the Australian bush\, particularly eucalypts\, Geri Barr uses photography\, textiles and drawing to explore themes of home and belonging. DESCRIPTION:We are very lucky to be holding a special oil painting workshop\, focusing on beautiful Eucalyptus trees\, hosted by renowned\, award-winning artist\, Emma Stuart. \nBeginners through to experienced artists are welcome to attend this relaxed\, Saturday afternoon workshop\, which will take place in the dappled shade\, en plein air along the banks on the Wannon River\, Cavendish on March 21st\, 1-3pm. \n“Nature is always my driving inspiration. This workshop will have a particular focus on trees\, since I’m fascinated by their textures and idiosyncrasies\,” said the artist. \n“Creating amidst such beautiful\, tranquil surrounds in this relaxed afternoon workshop will be something special\, and open to anyone. It will be great to have a mix of beginners\, students\, amateur painters\, and artists participate.” \nEmma will guide participants through creating an oil painting of an intimate scape\, using supplied materials and learning artistic techniques to create a unique artwork on canvas board. We will also appreciate the incredible value of these trees to our environment\, for biodiversity\, and even our mental wellbeing. Participants will get to learn from Emma and also make connections with others with similar interests. \nEntry tickets will include the workshop and all materials\, light refreshments and a set of paints and brushes for participants to take home with them to continue their artworks.

SUMMARY:Seed Ball Making with Dean Cross - Potter Museum of Art (Vic)
DESCRIPTION:Join multidisciplinary artist Dean Cross and make living art that will travel beyond the gallery as part of celebrations for National Eucalypt Day. \nYou’ll be guided to shape seed balls from paper and gum tree seeds that will form part of Dean’s new commission in the upcoming exhibition Ngarn Wa’ngal: Art of the gum tree. Each ball will be dispersed back to Country after the exhibition closes and activated by rain for revegetation. \nThe day will begin with a Welcome to Country by Aunty Kim Wandin\, senior Wurundjeri artist and Elder. Dean will then share insights into the creative process behind the commission. The activity will be facilitated by Dr Katherine Horsfall\, Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne’s School of Agriculture\, Food and Ecosystem Sciences. \nAprons and gloves will be provided\, but please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
